As COVID-19 continues to kill off more of 2020’s dance music festivals, US broadcasting company SiriusXM is gearing up to host its own star-studded 3-day virtual event.
Hosted by The Chainsmokers (who are in the middle of a musical hiatus), DisDance Festival will shake up your quarantine from Friday, May 22 until Sunday, May 24 on SiriusXM’s dance channel BPM (Ch 51).
Featured on the impressive roster are swathes of world-class acts, including Afrojack, Alison Wonderland, Nicky Romero, Oliver Heldens, Krewella, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix and many more. To highlight the exclusivity of the event, for several of the acts listed it will mark the first time that they’ve performed since the pandemic confined them to their houses, such as Above & Beyond and Marshmello.

If that’s not enough to convince you, the festival’s poster also includes late EDM legend Avicii (real name Tim Bergling), who sadly passed away two years ago. Since his death, the star’s family and friends have continued to raise money for the Tim Bergling Foundation via tribute concerts and music releases.
While he won’t be playing in person, Avicii’s DisDance slot will be filled with an ‘exclusive 2011 Avicii set’ which is set to go live on Saturday, May 23.
"We're thrilled to be providing a top-notch line up of some of the biggest names in Dance music in our first-ever Virtual DisDance Festival. The virtual event will bring the festival experience to life and entertain Dance music fans nationwide with original performances and appearances they won't want to miss," said Sirius XM’s President and Chief Content Officer, Scott Greenstein. "Our listeners can continue to count on SiriusXM to keep them close to their favorite artists and to deliver great exclusive, original, and entertaining content. Our Virtual DisDance Festival is no exception."
SiriusXM's Virtual DisDance Festival aims to raise funds for MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund. The fund was set up in conjunction with The Recording Academy to help those in the industry who have been badly affected by pandemic, such as music creators and other professionals who’ve been left without work.
