Fortnite: Watch Diplo’s “Higher Ground” DJ Set in Full
Aug 6, 2020 | by Will Mitchell
On July 31, Grammy Award-winning producer Diplo rounded off his summer Fortnite residency with a short but sweet house music set: Diplo Presents: Higher Ground.
Hosted on Party Royale Island, the in-game venue for all of Fornite’s livestream events, the concert marked Diplo’s third and final show. For the first two performances, the star appeared as part of dance trio Major Lazer and as his country music alias, Thomas Wesley, but this time round he chose to showcase Higher Ground, his recently established house label.
To mark the event, Fortnite’s developer Epic Games introduced several new character skins, back bling, and even a weapon wrap for players to try out, all of which reacted in time to the music.
The 30-minute set showcased what Higher Ground is all about, featuring a vibrant array of house tracks such as How Could I Ever by KUU, Jaded’s Sosa and Diplo’s own collaboration with Wax Motif: Love To The World.
Throughout 2020, Epic Games has been merging the worlds of music and online gaming together by holding a series of virtual events in response to live venues closing down. In addition to Diplo’s other concerts, the company has welcomed performances by Dillon Francis, Steve Aoki & Deadmau5 as well as that record-breaking Travis Scott show.

Major Lazer Featured on Beyoncé’s Visual Album “Black Is King”
In other news, Diplo took to Twitter recently to thank global superstar Beyoncé for including Major Lazer on her latest masterpiece, Black Is King. The trio worked alongside Ghanaian singer-songwriter Shatta Wale and Beyoncé herself on the track ALREADY, which was uploaded to Disney+ with the rest of the album on July 31— the same day as Diplo’s Fortnite finale.
Black is King is an accompaniment to Beyoncé’s Lion King album, The Gift, and acts as a vibrant, empowering celebration of Blackness entwined with a rich myriad of cultural references. Check out the video for ALREADY below:
