Ultra Singapore has had a last-minute change in venue, moving indoors to Basement 2 of the Sands Expo and Convention Centre at Marina Bay Sands. Organisers announced that severe weather conditions forecast for the weekend lead them to make the change.
TNP reports that a spokesperson for Ultra revealed weather had always been a cause for concern, so the new venue had always been considered as a backup plan.
“We were notified of the last minute availability of a large suite of rooms totalling 17,000 square metres and took the opportunity to engage our fans with a fully immersive indoor experience."
“Our guests will be able to enjoy the full production of Ultra from the moment they arrive, rather than waiting for the sun to set to experience the lasers and pyro shows.”
No Change to Headline Acts
In their statement, Ultra said that “The logistics of moving venue at such a late stage takes time and therefore we regret not having addressed our fans sooner.
“Rest assured the show goes on and event organisers are working tirelessly to deliver the Ultra experience we are renowned for.”
Organisers asserted that the Singapore show will go ahead as planned and there will be no change to the headliners- currently Martin Garrix, Axwell, Jamie Jones, Skrillex, Knife Party and Porter Robinson are set to perform over the weekend.
Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre is no stranger to this kind of event, having hosted Road To Ultra back in 2015, so take comfort in the knowledge that this year will still be a success. Ultranauts are promised that the new venue will still be able to provide "cutting-edge production, world-class visuals and of course, performances from top-ranked artists".
As part of Ultra's global expansion, this year the brand has pulled off shows in Miami, South Africa and Australia. There are also plenty of upcoming shows booked for locations including Korea, Japan and Europe.
