Hydeout Festival 2020: What to Expect from Singapore's New Multi-Genre Event
Jan 31, 2020 | 筆者: Will Mitchell
The all-new Hydeout Festival 2020 is coming to Singapore this Spring, on April 10-11 and again on April 17-18. Despite being a debut show, the festival boasts an unrivaled location and powerful lineup, featuring global and talent alike. However, with the number of festivals in the region steadily increasing, what is it exactly that makes Hydeout stand out in such a competitive market? Here's a breakdown for you:
An Unbeatable Venue
No trip to Singapore is complete without visiting the Gardens by the Bay. Opened in 2009, this luscious green expanse was previously named the "Best Attraction in Asia Pacific" and is helping to transform the metropolis into an environmentally friendly utopia. As luck would have it, Hydeout Festival 2020 will occupy The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay, which is Singapore's largest outdoor garden event space and provides standing room for 30,000 people. As you clink glasses and dance the night away next to the looming Supertrees, you'll find it hard to believe that you're still in the heart of a bustling city.
Two Weekends for Twice the Fun
Just like Coachella and Tomorrowland, Hydeout will take place over two weekends so that everyone has a chance to get in on the action. Weekend 1 and 2 will showcase different acts, but both promise two days of start to finish bangers spread out across multiple stages. In order to curate the lineup, organisers analysed streaming platform data, which means they were able to pick the best acts for the event based on who everyone has been listening to recently.
At the Hydeout Festival 2020 launch party, held towards the end of last year at Singapore's iconic Marquee nightclub, executive producer Chan Wee Teck cited Coachella as the inspiration for the event. During the launch, he talked about the need for a broader variety of music:
“We believe in the universality of music to bring people together and Hydeout fills a gap in this part of the world where people are looking for bigger yet more inclusive music events.”
A Lineup for All Tastes
Just what is it that makes Hydeout stand out from the rest of Singapore's large-scale music festivals? The answer lies in its diversity of genres apparent in their inaugural lineup. Usually festivals in the region will only cater for one specific genre, which means if your friendship group doesn't all have the same taste then finding a festival to go to can be a challenge.
Headliners for Hydeout Festival 2020 include EDM's finest, DJ Snake, Alison Wonderland, Martin Garrix and Nicky Romero, as well as hip-hop Gods Gucci Mane and ASAP Rocky. English singer-songwriter Rita Ora, Colombian sensation J Balvin and hardstyle champions Yellow Claw will also perform over the two weekends.
What else can you expect?
Singapore is an extremely vibrant city, so when you're not spending time at the venue, you'll find an endless array of options to keep you entertained. From a stunning selection of rooftop bars and nightclubs to some of the world's best street food, the city has so much to offer for tourists travelling there for the festival.
Hydeout Festival Singapore will take place on April 10-11 and again on April 17-18, 2020 at the Meadow by Gardens by the Bay. Tickets are on sale now and prices start at US$120.00
