Water Run is no ordinary music festival, tying in multiple elements to create an all-round entertainment experience unlike any other. Taking place in Chiba, the event combines running, live music and a water fight inspired by Thailand’s Songkran New Year celebrations. This unique event takes place at the Makuhari Seaside Park during the height of summer, offering a truly niche way to cool off from the intense heat.
The general idea is that attendees take part in a 1km run, broken up by special areas such as the 'mist zone' or the newly introduced 'tapioca zone'. Additionally, the entire site is decked out with masses of water guns and balloons, so participants are encouraged to join the fight and ensure that nobody stays dry.
Upon reaching the finish line, organisers have assembled a lineup of DJs, comedians, dancers and more to provide the crowds with some top-class entertainment. Over 60,000 people are expected to attend this year's event, which features a long list of special guests, including comedy duo Anzen Manzai as well as Ai Haruna- the winner of Thailand's "Miss International Queen 2009" transgender beauty pageant.
Also scheduled to make appearances over the weekend are Japanese boy bands FlowBack, XOX and Fizzy Pop, as well as Korean DJ Henney. See the official website for the full lineup, but stay tuned as organisers have stated more will revealed in the run up to the event, with some acts to be announced on the actual day!
