Ultra Miami's future was been called into question over the last few months, as Miami City Council originally agreed that the festival should move out of the city following this year's show on Virginia Key. In the aftermath of this decision, Ultra declared that they would be moving to a new South Florida location, but Miami officials' regret quickly began to show and they vowed to find a way to bring the festival back to the area.

After many back and forth discussions culminating in a debate on July 25, the Miami City Commission voted in favour of bringing the world-renowned EDM festival back to its home at Bayfront Park. Whilst there were concerns expressed from several Downtown residents regarding aspects such as excessive noise, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez emphasised the economic impact that Ultra has:

“Well I think you have to look at the economic benefits... It has a $100 million dollar economic benefit.”

Regarding the move, Ultra agreed to make several changes- including changing the decibel level to 102- to appease to the local community, later celebrating the result of their vote by tweeting the news.

Recently, things have really begun to look up for Ultra, with the launch of their 9 week Resistance residency in Ibiza along with the announcement that Ultra Korea would be returning to Seoul next year. The next scheduled Ultra show will at the Tokyo Odaiba Ultra Park II in Japan on September 14-15, find out who was just added to the lineup here.
