The legendary Indian festival is heading back to Goa this December

Way back in 2007, Sunburn took Goa by storm and proved itself as India’s pioneering dance music festival. Jump forward to today and the scale of the festival has expanded dramatically, luring in over 300,000 guests each year with its colossal stages, unbeatable lineups and ecstatic carnival atmosphere. Popularity for this world-famous event has grown so much so, that it was the only festival in Asia listed on DJ Mag’s “Top 50 festivals 2019", voted for by the DJs themselves.
Sunburn organisers took to Twitter recently to reveal that the number 1 DJ in the world, Martin Garrix, will be headlining the show alongside Grammy award winning duo The Chainsmokers. Aside from his residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza, this year Garrix has headlined Ultra Music Festivals in Miami, Australia and South Africa. He was forced to cancel several shows earlier this year due to an injury, but is back on his feet now and will play at the esteemed Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) next month. The Chainsmokers have held a residency at XS Nightclub in Las Vegas since 2017 and in September began their World War Joy Tour. The tour follows the release of this year's album by the same name and kicked off on September 25 at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Sunburn Festival Returning Home
This year, Sunburn is returning to its birthplace in Goa, after having relocated to the hills of Pune for recent editions. The event will be held at Vagator Beach, known for its striking red cliffs and stunning sunsets. For EDM fans in Asia, there’s no need to make the journey half-way around the globe to enjoy the same festival experience as you would find in Tomorrowland.
In 2018, Sunburn used the theme “Welcome to Paradise” and was overflowing with flea markets, bonfires, workshops, after parties, helicopter rides and more. Happening at the very end of December, the festival cemented itself as the nirvana for travelers spending the holidays away from home, with its audience members representing over 40 different countries.
As for the music, Sunburn’s lineups never disappoint, previously featuring acts like Axwell & Ingrosso, Armin Van Buuren, DJ Snake and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, as well as an immense amount of regional support. Multiple stages offer up the full spectrum of electronic music, with the main ‘Cubezoid’ stage often being praised as one of Asia’s largest. Stay tuned as the rest of the lineup is yet to be announced.
The second round of tickets have just gone on sale and are available via the link below:
