Martin Garrix's STMPD RCRDS to Host 24 Hour Livestream Festival

The latest from the coronavirus outbreak. As I'm sure you're aware, the situation around the world is escalating by the day. On Thursday, the state of California issued a 'stay at home' order affecting 40 million people, following Governor Gavin Newsom's warning that almost half of the states's population could contract the virus.

For those currently confined to their homes and who are running out of ideas on how to keep boredom at bay, here's some good news for you. Martin Garrix's label STMPD RCRDS have revealed via Twitter that they will be hosting their own 24 hour livestream festival, beginning on March 28th. We don't know much about the details as of yet, but STMPD have said that they will drop the lineup at 10am ET on Friday, March 20.

Garrix recently joined a growing list of DJs to post the hashtag "#savethesummer", which encourages others to stay at home and comply with official advice, in the hope that the live music industry will be revived by summertime. For more on how other EDM DJs are coping under quarantine, click here.

Festivals Around the World Moving Online

STMPD RCRDS statement comes at a time when other people in the industry are figuring out how to keep the scene alive whilst under lockdown.

Ultra Miami was one of the first major festivals to announce that it was pulling the plug on this year's event, devastating fans globally. However, shortly afterwards Ultra Music Festival revealed that they had teamed up with broadcasting company SiriusXM to create an Ultra Virtual Audio Festival.

The livestream festival kicks off on Friday, March 20 at 5pm ET and will continue right through until Monday, March 23, you can access it via the link here. Some of the acts participating include those who were originally scheduled to play at Ultra Miami, including Above & Beyond, Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, Major Lazer, Martin Garrix and more.

Beyond Wonderland's Virtual "Rave-a-thon"

Although Insomniac's flagship event EDC Las Vegas still going ahead (at present), the company is still doing their part to provide quarantine-friendly entertainment and encourage social distancing. Insomniac's founder Pasquale Rotella took to Twitter to announce that the company will be holding a "Beyond Wonderland Virtual Rave-a-thon" on March 20-21, after the original event was postponed until June of this year.
